Think of Le Mans Prototypes as the dream machines of the future. At their heart, these are purpose-built race cars featuring both open and closed cockpits with the most advanced technology found in motorsport.
LE MANS PROTOTYPE 1
LMP1 entries such as the Audi R15 TDI, Acura ARX-02, Peugeot 908 HDi and Zytek 07S. These ultra-engineered racing cars produce between 600-700 horsepower, have a minimum weight of 900 kilograms (approximately 1,985 pounds), can accelerate from 0-100 mph in three (3) seconds and reach top speeds in excess of 200 mph.
LE MANS PROTOTYPE 2
LMP2 cars are the smaller brothers of their P1 counterparts. They are lighter and less powerful but also more nimble, having the capability to win overall races. P2 racers like the Porsche RS Spyder, Acura ARX-01b and Lola B09/80 produce between 500-550 horsepower and have a minimum weight of 825 kilograms (approximately 1,820 pounds).
