Three-time American Le Mans Series champion Allan McNish will return to the Series action at the 57th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring behind the wheel of the revolutionary Audi R15 TDI with Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello. McNish has long been a fan favorite but 2008 reaffirmed it with him being awarded the Drive of the Race Award for his performance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and again for Petit Le Mans, the Autosport Driver of the Year, and the ALMS Series For The Fans Driver of the Decade. …An internationally accomplished road racer with Formula One expertise, has won 18 overall races in Series and 26 in class.

 
2009: At Sebring, successfully debuted Audi R15 TDI with Dindo Capello/Tom Kristensen. Stormed to lead at green flag and waged epic battle with Peugeot. Twenty-three lead changes later, took checkered flag by 22 seconds and set records for distance covered and average race speed. Built up large lead over the second place Peugeot in order to pit for fuel with 14 minutes remaining and maintain lead. … At Petit Le Mans, took lead on first lap going into turn two. Less than an hour into the race, McNish changed to slicks in preparation for the unpredictable stormy weather on the horizon. The No. 2 car led the majority of the race until the four hour mark when McNish spun and stalled the car on cold tires. Finished third in class and overall. Claimed second MICHELIN® GREEN X® Challenge win in season.
 
2008: At Sebring, claimed top spot in LMP1 class and third place overall with co-drivers Tom Kristensen and Dindo Capello. … At Road Atlanta, epic run to victory after crashing Audi on way to grid. Lost two laps replacing most of car’s front end and entered race two laps down. Made up ground and pitted from lead lap after first 2:45 stint and returned to drive final triple stint to race victory, a 4.512 second-victory with Capello/Emanuele Pirro over factory Peugeot. Joined Capello as only drivers to capture P1 wins at Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans in the same year.
 
2007: At Sebring, defending Series and Sebring champion helped guide No. 1 Audi to second place finish in LMP1 with Rinaldo Capello/Tom Kristensen. Car sustained significant damage in Thursday night practice, which required replacement of tub. During course of race car had to replace starter, battery and dashboard and finished 11 laps behind its sister car. … At St. Petersburg, returned to Victory Circle with Capello. Charged through field following early penalty for jumping race start and passing Romain Dumas in Penske Porsche. Tore through field and regained overall lead in less than 15 minutes. Handed off to Capello near halfway point as duo won beat sister car by 0.426 seconds. … At Long Beach, finished first in LMP1 again with Capello but saw R10 TDI’s nine-race overall winning streak come to end. Forced to make late splash for fuel while running in top-five. … At Houston, started race off with fury in overtaking the LMP2 pole-sitter in Turn 1. Held lead but a puncture to the front left tire with co-driver Capello at wheel, followed by off at Turn 6, resulted in the car losing its overall lead. By race end, McNish finished first in LMP1 and third overall. … At Utah, teammate Capello qualified on pole but car started from back of grid due to tire change. Could not catch the No. 6 Porsche for the overall win resulting in a first-place class finish for the duo and second place finish overall. … At Lime Rock, won again in class but finished fifth overall. … At Mid-Ohio, after co-driver Capello’s incident in Turn 5 on first lap, the duo fought hard to get back on the lead lap. By race end, the McNish/Capello duo finished second in class behind the team’s sister Audi R10 TDI. … At Road America, qualified on overall pole position. After replacing a left front tire lost in Canada corner, the Scot left the pit lane in 10th position overall. Just twenty minutes later, took the overall lead. With an hour left in race, the No. 1 car was overtaken by the No. 7 Porsche RS Spyder and was unable to regain the lead. The Capello/McNish duo finished first in LMP1 and second overall. … At Mosport, held the overall lead for most of race until gearbox issues prevented the No. 1 to shift above fourth gear. Ended race in first place in LMP1 and second overall. … At Detroit, lengthy pit stops played a factor in the second place LMP1 finish and third overall. … At Petit, with co-driver Capello, the No. 1 duo endured several incidents leading to repairs. Finished race in first place in class and overall winner. The duo captured second drivers championship. … At Laguna, finished just seconds in front of the No. 7 Penske Porsche for the overall win with Capello.
 
2006: Just as dominating in championship-winning return to full-time competition as he was in 2000 title run. 2005: In only Series appearance, teamed with Biela/Pirro to battle teammates JJ Lehto/Werner/Kristensen in a hotly contest 12 Hours of Sebring, before settling for second place.
 
2004: Lone stint in the Series was for Audi UK in the season-opening 12 Hours of Sebring. Combined with Biela/Pierre Kaffer for a resounding five-lap victory over Lehto/Werner/Pirro as part of a 1-2-3 Audi LMP1 finish.
 
2000: Ran full Series season with factory Audi team, supported by Audi Sport North America and won P900 championship. Paired with Capello for full season with Michele Alboreto joining for longer races. … Trio finished second at Sebring in the debut of the now legendary Audi R8 prototype. … Eighth at Charlotte in older Audi R8R, finished third at Silverstone then retired at Nurburgring due to crash damage. … Returned to America in late July and began incredible string of successes. ...
